POLING, Verna (nee Fairbanks)
With much love and sadness we announce the death of Verna on March 21 at North Shore Hospice in North Vancouver. Born the 5th child of 8 in Barnwell, Alberta on October 18, 1930 of parents Delma and Miles Morgan Fairbanks, Verna was 83 years old when cancer finally ended her life. She is survived by her husband George, four daughters: Gina Allen, Karen Stewart, Susan Poling and Allison Poling and son Marc Poling; 12 grandchildren: Lexi Hooley, Matthew Allen, Britton Stewart, Tanner Stewart, Carson Stewart, Quinn Stewart; Zoe Zeman-Poling, Savanna Rowe, Connor Rowe, Ashley Quadrale, Jackson Poling, Carter Poling and 5 great-grandchildren: Verity Campanella-Zeman, Henry Allen, Charlotte Allen, Georgia Hooley, and Hazel Hooley. Verna is also survived by two sisters: Deana Simington in Lethbridge and Jolayne Alexander in California. In her early career Verna was a schoolteacher in Southern Alberta and in Edmonton where she supported George through graduate school. Verna was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in three auxiliaries there. She loved to travel, to cook and bake, to attend movies, symphonies, plays, hockey games, played cards and boggle with a vengeance and most of all she loved spending time with her family. We loved her very much and will miss her every day! Our family is very appreciative of the excellent care that was provided to Verna by doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Ward at Lion's Gate Hospital and at North Shore Hospice. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church, 941 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver, at 11 am on Monday March 31st with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
