Ann Marie Black, 87, died peacefully at her home in Vancouver, BC surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 25, 1925 to Thomas and Katherine (Marianich) Harris. Ann later moved to Vancouver where she met and married her husband of 64 years, Douglas Black. Ann enjoyed summers on Green Lake with her friends and family, especially with three generations of children. To the end, Ann was incredibly positive and still found energy to encourage those around her. With Doug at her side, the couple continued to express their unconditional love and gratitude for the life they built together with their family. In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her children Karen, Janet (Serge), Susan (Peter), Julie (Steve), and Russell (Monica); by her grandchildren Kyle, Hallie, Gabrielle, Philip, Matthew, Nathan, Kevin, Colin, Tamara, and Tessa; by two great- grandchildren, Fraser and Alexis; and by her siblings Leonard and Irene. Ann was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Katherine Harris, her sisters Lillian and Florence, and her brothers Henry and Joseph. Our wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving wife will be missed so much and will remain forever in our hearts and memories. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Forest Lawn Chapel 3789 Royal Oak Ave Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation in memory of Ann Marie Black.
