BROWN, Barney Richard
The world should mourn as we have lost a rare gem, an honestly good guy. Barney Richard Brown aged 79 was lost through a tragic accident while on vacation February 06, 2013. Born August 11, 1933, in Harris, Saskatchewan, Barney was the son of an original settler family. He and his five siblings were brought up on good but hard times wanting for very little. His working life began at the age of 15 when he left home to work the new northern pipeline. After falling in love and a brief courtship he wed Theresa Hilkewich in 1952. With his wife Theresa ("Terry" predeceased in 2010) they brought their young family to British Columbia in 1968, settling in Port Coquitlam. When he ended one career as a Constable with the CN Police he began another as a local plumber soon bringing his son Lindsay in with him and forming B & L Plumbing. Years later, Lindsay left to form his own company with his own sons and Barney softly retired. Still, Barney was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He formed lasting relationships with so many people, far too numerous to name but the power of one man to help so many is honourable. Dad was also a dedicated family man, he will be greatly missed by his children, Diane (Don), Lindsay (Heather), Sharon (Phil), Brenda (Shane), Lynn (Rick), 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom absolutely adored him. He will also be sadly missed by his special friend and travelling companion, Judy, as well as just about every relative no matter how distant and anyone else that had ever met him. We grieve his loss deep in our hearts but celebrate the man, his life and his legacy. A Memorial Service will be held at Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam on Saturday 9 March 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
