ELLIS, Catherine Anne
Devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Catherine Anne Ellis, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2012 at the age of 56, surrounded by her family at St Paul's Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Mark; daughters, Jenna McCann (Tim) and Maryn Wallace (Jon); grandson, Ethan McCann; mother, Barbara Hinkson; sister, Susan Reynolds and family; and brother, Chris Hinkson and family. Her many amazing qualities, including her warmth and generosity, sense of humour, wit, and caring and compassionate nature will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Born in Vancouver, Catherine attended Point Grey Secondary School where she played field hockey and sang in the choir. Following high school she went on to UBC, where she obtained her Bachelor of Education. She and Mark met during Catherine's time at university, and were married in the summer of 1977 for a wonderful 35 years. They honeymooned in Hawaii, a destination the family visited together on many happy occasions over the years. Catherine worked as an elementary school teacher before becoming a mother, the career she was destined for and wholeheartedly devoted herself to until her passing. She loved music, her beautiful garden and her cats, was renowned for her cooking and baking, and enjoyed the closeness of her good friends. Catherine will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a warm and loving person. She was simply the best. A private memorial service will be held for family and friends. For those so inclined, donations may be made in her memory to St Paul's Hospital.
