DAVID Horace BALDRY June 13, 1934 - November 12, 2015
It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of David on Thursday November 12 at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody after a brief battle with cancer. David passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his sister Delcie and brother Gil, survived by his loving wife Jean of sixty years, sister Carol (Terry), sisters in law Tilly and Edna, daughters Kim (Dave), Mandy (Peter) and Janice (Douglas), eight grandchildren Katie (Steve), Graeme, Hayley (Nate), Holton, Zoë, Hero, Dylan, Kayla, and great grandson Archer.
David was born in London, England and was one of the many children evacuated during the blitz. He served in the British Army from 1952 to 1954 in Malaya. Over the years Dave worked in a number of trades starting out as a precision optical instrument maker, working in Ford Motor Company, and starting up his own heating installation company while in the UK. In 1968 Dave and Jean with their three daughters immigrated to Canada and settled in Port Coquitlam where he worked for 27 years at ESCO Steel retiring in 1996 reaching the position of inspector.
David was a man of many talents. In his youth he was a medal-winning swimmer, played water polo, but his game of choice was always soccer. He was a self-taught artist and a skilled carpenter who enjoyed making furniture and bird houses for his family and friends.
David was a kind, loyal and loving family man who always saw the best in everyone. His smile and sense of humour will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caring nurses at Eagle Ridge Hospital W2 in particular Diane, Vanessa, and Leslie, along with Dr. Lee and staff at Fraser Valley Cancer Clinic, and Dr. Cullen. A private service will be held for family and close friends.
