May 9, 1957- August 1, 2017
Through tears of shock and sorrow we must announce the sudden passing of our beloved Greg Dines. On a beautiful summer day swimming with family and friends on Bobs Lake, Greg left us in a heartbeat.
He was with his best friend and wife, Holly Gordon, his son Max, his niece and nephew Charleigh and Harry Pratt, along with good friends Dr. Willa Henry and Dr. John Morse.
The police, search and rescue, and dive team from Trenton were professional and kind. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for taking such good care of all of us.
Greg leaves behind his daughter Alexandra (16), and son Maxwell (14), who he loved unconditionally, as well as his adored stepdaughter Courtney Gordon (25), two sisters Dorothy and Judy, colleagues he so enjoyed working with and numerous friends who always said "How can you not love Greg? He's such a good, kind man!"
Greg worked in public health with Doctors of BC and recently as Executive Director of B.C. Divisions of Family Practice.
He was committed to the welfare of doctors and the relationships with their patients.
Greg was an elite athlete in his day competing in three Iron Men, numerous ultra marathons, and capped it off with the Western States 100 mile Endurance Run, starting in Squaw Valley, California and ending 100.2 miles later in Auburn, California.
His new love of golf was a challenge, but he excelled at it with his usual discipline. He loved his walks in Lighthouse Park with his wife and golden retriever Chelsea, who was named after his favourite soccer team. He did all he could to keep up with his son biking down Whistler Mountain and skiing down double black diamond runs.
He was a proficient and passionate sommelier gaining knowledge of the vineyards around the world, and remembered every friends' favourite wine.
He will be missed by so many people who loved him for his gentle spirit.
He died a happy man.
There will be a celebration of his life at St. Francis-in-the-Wood in West Vancouver at an upcoming date.

Our family chain is broken,

the chain will link again.
