Donald LORD Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on May 8, 2010.
LORD, Donald William October 13, 1928 - April 27, 2010 Passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by his loving wife Joan of 54 years in 2006. Survived by son Michael (Jennifer) Lord, daughter Teresa Hunt, devoted sister Claire Milne, grandchildren Sarah Lord, Graham Lord and Adam Hunt and many nieces and nephews. Don played football for both the Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions in the mid 50's and remained active in sports his whole life. After a successful 40 year career with Finning Ltd., Don retired as President and CEO, settling with Joan in Pender Harbour where they enjoyed many years boating up and down the Coast with family and friends, who will always remember him for his generous nature and wicked sense of humor. He possessed a strong sense of fairness, honor and uncompromising integrity that never waivered throughout his lifetime. A devoted family man, Don's greatest sense of pride and happiness was found with his wife and family, always putting them first. He also leaves behind a close circle of friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A small family gathering was held May 1st, 2010. No service or flowers by request. Anyone wishing to do so may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Joan Phyllis Lord.
