Doug had a wide-ranging mind and took lively interest in the arts, travel and politics. He was famous for his memory, and always illustrated his points with names, dates and quotes from his capacious inner library.
Doug was predeceased by his beloved wife Jo, and brother Gordon. He is survived by his children Brendan and Kirsten, as well as by Jo's children (Hackett) Carol, Bruce, Laura, Rob and Stephen. He is also survived by Jo's grandchildren, who brought him much happiness.
