PIRIE, Edna-Mae (EM)
May 3rd, 1930 - January 19th, 2013
Edna-Mae slipped away peacefully after bravely struggling with Alzheimer's disease. Edna-Mae leaves Glen Pirie and their daughters Cheryl Pirie- Jacobs (Ian Jacobs), Wendy Pirie and Dianna- Lynn Lund (Dave Lund). Edna-Mae also leaves her grandchildren - Bryan Pirie, Shaun Pirie, Jordan Lund, Kaitlin Jacobs, Thomas Jacobs and Kelsey Lund. EM beamed when she had a babe in her arms and each of her grandchildren were the beneficiaries of her endless adoration. Although EM was diagnosed with Alzheimer's all too early her grandchildren treasured their precious "Nana" and were very protective of her. Edna-Mae was a vibrant woman with porcelain skin and a radiant smile. She loved to entertain in the beautiful surroundings that she and Glen created many years ago and was happiest when hosting a large gathering of friends and extended family. Her zest for life, love of laughter, exquisite taste, warmth and compassion, unwavering commitment and devotion to her family along with strength and determination that belied her petite frame are a few of the special characteristics that her family will fondly remember. The Pirie Family would like to thank Edna-Mae's cherished companions Corrine and Tara, her primary nurses Pam, Eva and Natalia, her primary care aides Francine and Paul and all of the very caring and compassionate staff from the Kiwanis Care Centre in N. Vancouver. They became her extended family 11 years ago and EM received a great deal of love in her home-away from home. A private service will take place in late February. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Edna-Mae Pirie's name to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. 604.681.6530 www.alzheimerbc.org.
