NIEDERMEISER, Ernie
April 6, 1954 - April 9, 2012
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing man whose contagious smile and delightful personality touched the lives of everyone around him. Ernie Niedermeiser (Papa), born on April 6, 1954 died peacefully with family at his side on April 9, 2012, on Easter Monday, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. On April 6, 2012, Good Friday, he celebrated his 58th birthday surrounded by his family. Ernie was born in Chilliwack, spent most of his life in Richmond and the lower mainland; he raised his family in Langley. He is survived by his wife Ann (the Bear), daughter Mindi (Chris), their children Cam, McKenzie and Mathias, his son Rudy (Christie), their son Nathan, his daughter Stephanie (Darren), along with their pack, and his partner in crime, Bandito. He is also survived by his father, Dietrich, his step-mother Mary, his sister Irene (Angus) and their children Matthew and Kendall, and his brother Gerry. Ernie has joined his mother, Eva, grandmother Emma, grandfather Rudolf, aunt Regina and cousin Marvin in heaven. In July of 2008 Ernie moved to Powell River to full-fill his dream of living by the ocean. Many enjoyed his slice of paradise as he entertained family and friends with summer BBQ's, beautiful sunsets, out of control fires and great music. He led a very successful life; he was a journeyman bricklayer and worked at Stebbins for most of his adult life. He enjoyed early mornings with his coffee shop buddies, fishing, clearing the beach, tinkering around the yard, rescuing random animals and driving his AMX. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye; he will be loved and truly missed.
He who gave Himself to save me,
Now will keep me to the end;
In His care securely resting
On His promise I depend – Bosch
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local SPCA or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
