Fred SHARP

SHARP _ Fred M. Fred passed away quietly on October 18, 2002. Born in Vancouver 1911, he is survived by Marion, his wife of 70 years; his daughter Maureen Galbraith; and his grandsons, Ryan, Curtis and Craig. South Vancouver was home where he owned Sharp's Shoes from the late 20's until 1960. In 1945 he was a Charter Member of Vancouver South Lions and subsequently served them for more than 50 years. He also served Vancouver on the Traffic and Safety Council, the Vancouver School Board and represented Vancouver East as Socred MLA from 1956 -60. After his retirement he served for 15 years as an active member of the Vancouver Pioneers and the 411 Seniors Society, where he was Senior Councillor until he was 81. A friend once said: "Fred was born with a concern for others. He is a very dedicated person trying to improve the lot of people. It has been the story of his life all the way. " In lieu of flowers, please donate to the CDA, Lions, or your local community charity. Memorial service to be held at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, 2:00 pm Saturday October 26th.
