George Isaac Vipond August 11, 1927-November 2, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George, our wonderful husband, father and grandfather at the age of 90. Born in Vancouver, he was predeceased by his parents John and Emily Vipond, and his favourite brother-in-law Bob Raymond. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Raymond), sons Michael (Sharon) and Rick (Lynell), daughter Cathy and by his grandsons Patrick, Trevor, Johnathan and Anthony. His early career began in the Vancouver Sun photography department. Eventually he became a staff photographer, covering a wide variety of events around the Lower Mainland. Editorial photo assignments for Easter, Valentines Day and other special events began to feature one of the women in the secretarial pool more and more frequently. They married in October 1951 and were together for 66 years. After a period of freelance work, he then joined that new up and coming thing called television and spent 30 years at the CBC as a technician and colour coordinator. We were forever waiting to watch a TV program while he tried to get the colour just right. Fascinated by technology, always interested in current events, George could fix almost anything. His workshop was filled with boxes of tubing and wires and jars of bolts, nuts and screws because "you never know when you're going to need those things." We will be forever grateful to Bob and Marge for pulling George and Margaret on road trips, cruises and introducing them to Hawaii. A family celebration of George's life will be held at a later date. Donations in George's name can be made to the Cancer Society of your choice.
