It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Gerald Clarke on June 8 at the age of 93. The eldest of 5 children, Gerry was born and raised in Govan, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his BASc in Mechanical Engineering and then went on to serve in the Canadian Army as a Lieutenant. Later in the early 1950's, Gerry attended the University of Western Ontario, where he obtained his MBA. After moving to Vancouver in the mid 1950's, Gerry met Audrey Iverson (nee Hiram) in 1961 and they were married in 1963. They enjoyed a good life together. Gerry helped Audrey with the raising of her three sons, Dicks, Paul & Neal Iverson who in 1963 ranged in ages from 17 to 12. Gerry maintained close contact with family in Ontario, visiting annually to celebrate various birthdays, and for Audrey to attend horse shows. With his professional life, he worked primarily in the oil industry with BA Oil, Gulf Oil, and Morrow Engineering until the age of 70. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey in 2011, his adopted son Dicks Iverson in 1975, and siblings George, Phyllis, Marjorie and Joe. He is survived by his adopted sons Paul (Theresa) and Neal (Cynthia) Iverson, sister-in-law Joan, daughter-in- law Maureen, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the staff at Yaletown House for the care they gave Gerry over the past 9 months. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 25th from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club, located at 1630 W 15th Avenue, Vancouver. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of your choice.
