ANDREWS, Gordon Bruce
January 11,1943 - December 12, 2012
Gordon passed away following a three-year battle with cancer, and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Fran, twin sister Jane (John), brother David (Bev) , nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Blair (Carol). Born in Vancouver, Gordon attended Lord Byng and UBC and enjoyed a career as a highly regarded teacher at Lord Kitchener and Osler schools. Creativity was a constant in Gordon's life. Students, parents and colleagues recognized his extraordinary talents as writer, producer and director of school musicals, an extension of his lifelong interest in musical theatre. Gordon was a gifted artist, exhibiting his paintings as a member of Artists of Kerrisdale. His garden was his pride and joy, a delight to all who saw it. In leisure time, Gordon enjoyed reading and, following retirement, he and Fran travelled extensively. Gordon's love of life, generous spirit and infectious sense of humour will live on in the memory of those who knew him. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club on Friday, January 11, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, with Words of Remembrance at 12:00 noon. A donation to the Artist in Residence Program of the VSB or the Vancouver Hospice Society would be appreciated.
