KOCH, Herb
Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 30, 2012, at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne, son Kevin (Kelly), daughter Stephanie, grandchildren Dylan, Katie and Kaylin, mother, Ella, sister Elfi (Reinhard) and many family and friends. He lived with his cancer the way he lived his life, with incredible strength and perseverance. He was born in Germany, emigrating to Canada in 1956 where his family made their home in Winnipeg. He moved to B.C. after his marriage and raised his family in Mission before retiring to Chilliwack. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and participated in many charitable events including the Fraser Valley Toy Run which he attended every year for over 20 years. He was a very hard worker and was dedicated in his work of standing up for the rights of his fellow employees as a strong union member and shop steward. He loved road trips and spent many vacations touring Canada and the States. His family and his dogs were a great source of joy for him and had many wonderful journeys together, especially to enjoy the beach at Lake Winnipeg. As said best by his son Kevin, the cancer took his body but it never took his heart. Herb requested a small family service at home, and wanted us to express his appreciation to all the family, friends, and health care workers who touched his life in so many positive ways during his 8-year journey with cancer.
Rest in peace you are home with the angels.
