FRENCH, Ian
December 4, 1923 – August 24, 2012
Ian French, beloved husband of Gladys, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family members, just three days before his 67th wedding anniversary. Predeceased by his sister Mary Clark and brothers George, Jim and Bill. Loving father of daughter Pat Varcoe (Vic) and son Doug (Billie), stepdaughter Bobbi Peltonen (Wilf), grandsons, Dan (Delana) and Dave (Nikki), great grandchildren, Dawson, Felicia (Bryan), Courtney, Kenny and Kevin, one great-great grandchild, Sophia, nephew Larry Steele (Pat), niece Audrey Slye (Harry) and extended family Tommy Gordon (Jo Ann).
Dad was born in Elgin, Scotland and came to Canada as a young lad before enlisting in the Air Force in 1941.
He enjoyed a 45-year career in Circulation with various newspapers, retiring from Pacific Press after 32 years of service. Dad was very much a 'people person' and would be the first one to help anyone at any time. Although we will miss his beautiful smile and blue eyes, we have comfort in knowing he is with Jesus and that we will see him again.
Our family wishes to thank Dr. Brad Turner and the attentive staff at Westshore Laylum for the wonderful, gentle care Dad received. We also acknowledge and salute Veterans' Affairs for their assistance.
A private family Interment at Boundary Bay Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at South Delta Baptist Church, 1988 – 56th Street, Tsawwassen, BC on Friday, September 7th, 2012 at 1:30 pm, with a reception to follow.
Flowers gratefully declined, but donations to Union Gospel Mission (604.684.3097) or Alzheimer's Society (604.681.6530) would be welcome in memory of Dad.
