Sept 5, 1920 to Sept 18, 2012 It is with profound sorrow that our family announces the passing of John Ballantyne, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A true mountaineer his whole life. One of the original builders of the North Shore Search and Resuce Cabin built in the 1940s and still used today. He succumbed to a brief illness at Ridge Meadows Hospital on September 18th. John was able to enjoy his 92nd birthday with family and friends recently. Born, raised and lived in the lower mainland, he served his country with pride during WWII and used his training as a machinist engine fitter in support of his country. All of us who knew him will cherish our own personal memories. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date in mid-October. John is survived by his wife Gena and will be missed by extended family and friends.
