Passed away August 20 with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Anna and Andrew, his brothers Al and Andy, his sisters, Natasha and Olga and his daughter, Susan. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley, his daughters Janice (Wayne), Kerry (Barry), Vicki (David), his 11 grandchildren John, Greg, Mike, Ryan (Andrea), Erin (Eric), Catherine (James), Ashley, Britney, Jonathan, Lauren and Matthew. His great- grandchildren Aiden and Liam and large extended family and friends. John was born in Trail, B.C. on March 22, 1927. He attended U.B.C. and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering. In that same year he began a long career with Sandwell Engineering. He travelled extensively in S.E. Asia and South America becoming Vice-President and then President of Sandwell International. He bought his first race horse in 1967 which sparked a life-long pursuit of breeding and raising racehorses. At its peak, Valleymeade farms was home to 30 horses. His large extended family and friends have many memories of cheering on his horses at various tracks from B.C. to California. The farm provided many happy memories for the grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dad was a true family man and was always happiest when the whole famdamily was under his roof, most Christmases, many Easters and always in the summer. His strong work ethic, his great capacity for problem- solving and his dedicated commitment to family will continue to be an inspiration for us all.
