APPLEBY _ Marilyn Anne (nee Robb) passed away peacefully at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver on March 22, 2006 after a courageous decade-long battle with an Alzheimer related disease at the age of 72 years. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Bessie Robb in 1979, and by her son, Donald in 1995. She is survived and sadly missed by her husband of nearly 49 years, Phil, her son Chris (Sandy), her grandchildren Jordon and Kendra, her sisters Ruth Robb and Joan Swayne from Ottawa and Smiths Falls, and her brother Don Robb from Waterloo, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Marilyn was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on May 5, 1933 and graduated from Kingston General as a Registered Nurse in 1954. After a brief stint with the VON she ventured west in 1955 to work at Shaughnessy Veterans Hospital in Vancouver and shortly thereafter met Phil whom she married in 1957 in Smiths Falls. Succeeding years were spent in Hinton, Alberta, where her two sons were born, Quesnel, BC, and finally in West Vancouver in 1967. Marilyn, a wonderful and devoted wife and mother, became a homemaker by choice. She loved and excelled at sports, especially golf, skiing, and then curling at Hollyburn Country Club where she served as Ladies Curling Chairperson in 1993-94. The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to the many wonderful home care support workers and the staff at Inglewood Care Centre for their loving care, support, and compassion. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made in Marilyn's name to the Alzheimer's Society of BC. A Celebration of Life Service for Marilyn will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Hollyburn Funeral Home located at 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. Reception to follow.
