MCEWEN, Mary Anne After a brief, but brave, battle with cancer, Mary Anne McEwen joined her mother Ursula, father George and brother Ian on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at age 65. A writer, producer and director, Mary Anne was a pioneer in Vancouver's feminist, LGBT and women in film and television communities. Mary Anne is survived by her brother Paul McEwen, nieces Dylaan McEwen and Megan McEwen-Nekrash (Kyle), great-niece Julia and great-nephew Nathan, plus many cousins and close friends. The family wishes to thank Mary Anne's community of friends, neighbours and colleagues especially from the Manhattan Co-op, the SFU Graduate Liberal Studies program, and her special circle of loved ones (Colleen, Brenda, Lee, Joan, Garnet, Gayhl, Lorraine) for their outpouring of support, love and compassion during Mary Anne's final journey. Special thanks to Dr. Gallagher and the incredible nursing team on palliative care at St. Paul's Hospital. No funeral by request, but a celebration of life will be planned this summer. Cut! It's a wrap!
