March 11, 1923 - June 8, 2012 Our mother passed away in the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, B.C. She was born in New Brunswick, the eldest of 7 children and was a caregiver to her many siblings. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her two daughters, Anne Douglas (Steve) of Gabriola Island, Eileen Fudge (Colin) of Victoria and her only grandchild Ethan Wilson of Burnaby. She is survived by her two youngest sisters, Edie and Irene; a favourite nephew, David; and many nieces and nephews. She lost her husband, Albert Vernon Uttley, in 2002 and her eldest daughter, Donna Wilson, in 2010. Mary faced a hard life with great grace and forbearance, working as a farm wife, nanny, welder, and factory worker in order to support her family. She lived in Vancouver, Surrey, Sechelt, Parksville, and finally, Victoria, but was always there for her brats and cats. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver, gardener, skilled spinner, knitter and weaver and also volunteered for many years in Parksville at the SOS. Many thanks to all the nurses on 7 North, especially Julie, Leslie, Gillian and Debbie for their great kindness to our mother at the last.
