Max Felde

FELDE _ Max, born December 27, 1917, died peacefully on October 17, 2005 after a short time at Lion's Gate Hospital and a very full life. Max's life was devoted to his two loves, music and his family. After studying viola at Juilliard, Max became a founder of the La Salle Quartet. He later performed with Tex Beneke and the Glen Miller Band, the St. Louis Sinfonietta, NBC Opera, the Robert Shaw Chorale, Baroque Strings of Vancouver, and the CBC Chamber Orchestra. He played viola with the Vancouver Symphony for 25 years and retired in 1986. Max touched many people and will live on in Orry, his wife of 51 years, his two daughters, Cara and Galen, his sons-in-law Patrick and Mick, and his grandchildren, Cashel and Reese, and in the numerous string instruments he built by hand. A gathering to celebrate the life of this exceptional man will be held in the near future.
