EIVEMARK, Michael Martin
February 1945 - May 2018
Mike passed away suddenly Thursday, May 10. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan, his daughter, Sharlene, his son, Stephen (Robyn), three grandchildren: Megan, Nicholas, and Ryan, sister, Jill (Howard), brother, Phillip (Jane), brothers and sister-in-law and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Eugenie who met in England during World War II. Mike was born in Godalming outside of London but soon the family relocated to Vancouver. Dad was a 12 year man at Vancouver College and a proud alumnus. He was an athlete and scholar playing basketball throughout high school. After high school, he turned his keen intellect to science and earned his B.SC and Engineering degrees at UBC and then M.SC. Eng from McGill. His chosen career as a Geotechnical Engineer suited his desire to follow the path less travelled. His work took him around the world and after retirement he and Joan continued to explore distant locales. Not one for tourist traps, he wanted to experience the "real" culture. Loved Golf, a voracious reader, and a soft spot for dogs with a long line of faithful canine companions. He was well respected by friends and colleagues and he will be deeply missed by all. Funeral Services will be held at St. Clare's Catholic Church at 11:00a.m., May 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or Canadian Diabetes Association.
