KOONER, Mohinder Singh
July 25, 1934 – May 3, 2013
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Mohinder Singh Kooner, affectionately known as Mo and Master Ji. He will be deeply missed by his wife Swaran Kaur of 60 years, his son Mike (Ran), his daughters Manjit Tutt, Sheila Buttar (Mike), Daljit Banns (Darshan) and 9 grandchildren Jeff (Sandy), Tauja, Sean (Kelly), Jasmine, Justin, Karli, Taylor, Maya-Jade and Jhemma. Dad was born in Dhani Pind, Punjab India. In India he obtained his teaching certificate and taught mathematics in Samrai Jandiala. He also served in the Indian National Volunteer Corps in 1948. After immigrating to Canada in July of 1960, he worked in remote lumber mills in Mesachie Lake and Pemberton. Later he worked as a head sawyer for Bay Forest Lumber and McDonald Cedar. Dad operated a strawberry farm in East Delta in the 80's. He retired in 1993 and spent most of his time travelling and spending time with his friends especially his neighbors and buddies at the Ladner Leisure Centre. Dad always had a positive attitude and good nature making friends with everyone he met. He dedicated his life to support his wife, children and grandchildren, always sacrificing for their future. He was a great friend and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at Riverside Funeral Home, 7410 Hopcott Rd. Ladner, BC on Saturday, May 11 at 3pm.
