Peter ALMERLING Obituary
November 25, 1965 - July 11, 2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Peter. Survived by his beautiful children, Alyssa, 11, Sofia, 9, Aidan, 3; loving wife Estelle; brother Allan; sisters Wendy, Sylvia and extended family. Predeceased by parents Ernest and Ann Almerling. Peter was a caring father, devoted husband and friend who embraced life with a determined and reflective spirit. A successful entrepreneur and businessman, he was a life-long learner, who studied music, literature, and Swedish at UBC, then continued in accounting to complete his CMA. Peter's avid passion for the outdoors included fishing, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing and mountaineering. It was here in nature as well as with family and friends that he found true peace and purpose. Memorial Mass Saturday, July 27, 11:30 a.m., St. Pius X Church, 1150 Seymour Rd, N. Van. Reception to follow, 12:30 p.m., Deep Cove Yacht Club, 4420 Gallant Ave, N. Van. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

So sad to hear of Peter's passing. We were childhood friends when we were at Queen Mary together. Back then he loved music, his guitar, playing floor hockey and his dirt bike. We had many laughs together and fun times at his home on Blanca. RIP my old friend. Clayton Gillies

My deepest condolences to the family.
Peter and I played guitar and hockey together in his UHill days. I'll never forget his sense of humour and overall zest for life. Lots of fun times at the house on Blanca.

Outdoor actvities and music brought Peter and I together a few years ago. It all started when we had some deeply meaningful discussions atop the Grouse Grind, after celebrating our physical exisence. I yet cannot seem to accept what has happened, but know that the memory of Peter's passion, energy and inspiration will be with me forever. Estelle, my thoughts are with you and your lovely children...

I got to know Peter professionally and socially, when he worked as a consultant for our start-up. Always opinionated, passionate, and up for a challenge, Peter was very knowledgable about business and i thoroughly enjoyed our wide ranging conversations about business, politics and life. Peter,I miss you so much and love you dearly.I am so glad that you had your own family.Boy,mom & dad must be so thrilled to have 4 grandchildren now.At least mom had the chance to spend some time with Evan before her passing...I came across an old photo album at Alans place.Its great to be able to see us when we were younger,younger,alot younger.About the age of my nieces and your daughters.I found a good picture of you when you modeled for my haircut,its safe in my portfolio.I"ll get some copies of them so that your kids can see what their DADDY looked like when he was younger!!!!!!As an Artist I would love to paint a picture of our kids,I can fit a number of pictures together so that many pictures can become one painting(water colour is my favorite medium).I don"t know how long it would take me but it would be a precious gift to your family from my Heart to Yours......I know you will be busy up there so there is no point in telling you to rest in peace because it"s just not going to happen(dad was always a puterer sp. what ever!),you can still have nap breaks if needed............I will always remember the day you could not stop your fall,it was on the day of my birthday,Sunday July 7th 2013 that is our special day we share!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU LOTS your "older sister" Wendy Grace Almerling.Peter you are forever in my prayers and thoughts plus my birthday,maybey Mom and Dad wanted it that way.Bye for now,Wendy.

Tragedy, Peter and family, just a tragedy. I worked with Peter and have never worked with anyone as intense, focused and dedicated as Peter. The loss is immense and my thoughts and prayers are with the family. May you find strength, joy and peace in his memory.
