Hearing of Rod's death brought back a flood of memories.
Rod is very near and dear to my heart. Sunbury Place was a great place and time, Rod and Dorothy were central to that. Fun times were had by all at the Galpin's home, from the pool where dives were invented, projects to join in on, and like Richard said Rod sparked a life long interests, mine is cars, now having antique collection of cars of my own. One of my fondest childhood memories is being part of the Galpin family vacation by motorcycle and trike to 100 Mile House B.C. I fondly remember the great time I had with the Galpin Clan! Rod's humour, friendship and knack for fun provided a great escape and many learning opportunities. My only regret is never saying how important the Galpin's were to me ,providing a fun ,safe diversion.
Rest in Peace "old friend"

On Sunbury Place in North Delta, back in another time, the Galpins were our neighbours. With many friends for good reason, Rod and Dorothy were down-to-earth, welcoming and loving people. They were an integral part of my Sunbury Place second family and it always seemed like Rod had some fascinating project on the go. With the garage door open and dressed in CP Air coveralls, he could be seen plugging-away on a home reno, an auto restoration, an engine rebuild, a VW trike creation or on one of a multitude of collaborations with brother Vern. For a time, even his dad's old plane was in the garage! How lucky to be a kid growing-up in that neighbourhood indeed. My only regret is that I drank all of his and Jack's beer.
I fondly recollect picking-up his old electric guitar and firing-up the turntable with one of the 'Play Guitar with The Ventures albums.' This stirred keen interest in what has become for me a lifelong hobby.
Tremendous and dear memories, and there are so many more I carry with me everyday.
So thank you Rodney - for our little jam sessions, for including me in the parties and fun, for the inspiration from all of your projects, for putting me right when I was wrong, and most of all for your friendship.

We will truly miss a good friend and former neighbour. Rod was always the first to lend a helping hand, sit for a chat and a beer , enjoy a good joke, or head out for a social gathering. Known for his quick wit, great smile and love of vintage cars, he punctuated every conversation with the twinkle in his eyes. I know that his family will miss him greatly. RIP Rod.
