Roy Appleford Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from May 5 to May 6, 2017.
Roy Albert Appleford February 27th 1940-April 26th 2017 It is with great sadness to announce Roy died peacefully, 5 yrs after his cancer diagnosis. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 yrs Sheila, sisters Sandra/Mel, Pat/Mick of Australia, many nieces and nephews and many very good and close friends.

Roy was born in Watford England and emigrated to Canada 1973, a decision he never regretted. He loved to explore the coast in his boat Kaloni. Roy was well known in the boating world, a past president of the Marine Trade association, he was larger than life and always a bright light in any situation.

I wish to thank Dr. Samborski, Dr Janine Davies of the BCCA and the staff of Peace Arch Palliative unit for their care of Roy during this last part of his journey.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the BC Cancer foundation or Diabetes Canada.

A service will be held at RVYC by the Eight Bells club at a later date

My sympathy goes out to the Appleford family during your time of grief. A life well lived will surely be missed by many. As the days and weeks pass and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love of family and friends. I hope the words at 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14 can serve as a hope to you all.

Somethings do not change. A great man to deal with and to have in the Lionsgate Rotary Club. The question is, who's wallet will I find next laying on the floor of the B C Ferry. (and with a reasonable amount of money therein). So sorry for your loss Sheila
