November 3, 1940 - September 29, 2012 Diane Gisel passed peacefully in her sleep at home in North Vancouver. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Grant, her sons Gary (Maggie) and Brian (Dahl) and four grandchildren (Jami, Sean, Mia and Julia) as well as her sister Donna and brother Dale. Born in Prince Albert, SK to Murdoch and Thelma Robertson the family relocated to Duncan, BC in 1949. After graduating from Cowichan High School, Diane attended the University of British Columbia where she graduated with honors. After graduation Diane studied at McGill University returning to take a teaching position at the University of Victoria. She met and married her husband Grant in 1966 and moved to North Vancouver to raise their two boys Gary and Brian. As her boys grew up Diane took on new challenges, training herself as a computer programmer and IT project manager. As a private contractor she worked for many years with Sierra Systems Consultants for a wide variety of clients. Eventually retiring, but never slowing down, Diane enjoyed an active life in her later years. She gave much of her time to the UBC Botanical Garden as a "Friend of the Garden, " and spent an equal amount of time in her own, ever expanding home garden. She was also an active globetrotter and, along with Grant, traveled extensively around the world. As with all grandmothers, her greatest joys came from spending time with her grandchildren. Diane was a beloved wife, sister, mother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all.
The Guest Book is expired.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, an organization both Diane and Grant have supported for many years.
