Siri Heiberg Obituary
HEIBERG, Siri Kidder 1950-2009 Siri Heiberg died on Friday, December 18, 2009. She leaves her husband John Kidder, son Kendall, daughter Julia, stepdaughter Janet and grandchildren Oliver and Ava, sisters Ellen-Jeannette and Hanne, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and in-laws in Canada, the United States and Norway. Siri was a core member of both of her extended families, a fierce and loyal mother and stepmother, and John's indispensible partner for 31 years. She was a wise woman who heard people when she listened to them, and was a dear friend and counsellor to many. Her cancer came on very quickly and her death surprised us all. But she was always steadfast, and she gave clear goodbyes to those closest to her. We are left feeling as if we have given her away, rather than having had her stolen from us. She loved the winter solstice and the return of the light. If you are a friend of Siri's, please join us at home at noon on New Year's Day to celebrate her life. May she be filled with loving kindness May she be well May she be peaceful and at ease May she be happy. Siri worked for women: donations may be made to Marie Stopes International ( www.mariestopes.org ), or UNICEF's Kenya Girls Scholarship ( www.unicef.ca ).

John,
Dorothy and I send our thoughts and prayers to you as you grieve the loss of Siri. Siri clearly had an extremely active and rewarding life. It is a shame she was taken so early.
We have not seen you since Ken's memorial. We are well and enjoying our winter home in Palm Springs.

Although I did not know her well, I recognized her smile and lilting voice and I was blessed to see the light in John's eyes whenever her name was mentioned. I will miss her and her welcoming smile. Although she is gone we will not forget her for she lives on in our memories. Walk slowly on your journey Siri knowing you were and still are loved.

A beautiful woman with an incredibly generous heart. Siri was an inspiration to all she touched. I am so sorry for the loss of such wonderful person. My heart is aching. I will never forget her.

There were many people who thought of Siri as their "best friend".
I was one of them.
Siri's is/was an example of a life not just well-lived, but lived with the fullest engagement at all times. She had strong opinions about nearly everything, and definitely liked being right, but she was also always willing to explore, to think, to discover and to share.
I loved her.
