Mary (May) Chalmers Robertson May 24, 1931 - May 7, 2014 Mary ( May) Chalmers Robertson departed peacefully in her sleep on May 7, 2014 to join the afterlife tour group from the Palliative Care ward at Vancouver General Hospital, comfortable in spite of failing kidneys and heart. She was predeceased by her sisters Ann Chute and Nancy Robertson in NS and is survived by her sister Helen Seedhouse in Penticton BC, her 4 nephews Robert (Candy) and James Chute in NS, Neil (Pam) Seedhouse and Kurt (Erin) Seedhouse in BC, her niece Isla (Robert) Bergenhus in ON, 10 great nieces and nephews and 2 great greats.

Born in Penticton to James and Helen Robertson nee Chalmers, after graduating from Penticton High she went on to earn a BA (Ag) and a MSc from UBC and PHD from the U of Hawaii (someplace warm) in Bio-Chemistry. May worked and researched in London, Gottingen Germany and U of Manitoba doing significant research on cancer and placental hormones.

An avid traveler, outdoor enthusiast and photographer May toured Europe, the Americas, China, and parts of Africa making an art of meeting new people, regardless of culture and language. May supported the Arts, conservation and community. She enjoyed her walking club, watercolours classes, the Mah Jongg Club and the fitness group. Please see

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday May 30, 2014 at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, B.C., Friends and family are all welcome to wish her Bon Voyage. Please consider a card and donation to your favoured charity in lieu of flowers.
