It is with a heavy heart that we announce Jane's passing on June 17, 2014 at Saint Paul's Hospital. Born on June 14, 1952 in Ogden, Utah, she was also raised in Nyssa, Oregon and Vancouver, B.C. She attended Neuchâtel Junior College in Switzerland, graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1974 and from Dalhousie Law School in 1977, and practiced law for the majority of her career at the Department of Justice. She was an active member of her community as Administrator of the Sunday School and member of the Chancel Guild at St. Mary's Kerrisdale Church, District Commissioner of the Quilchena District of the Girl Guides of Canada, and fundraiser for Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan. Jane was predeceased by father George and is survived by mother Anne, husband Val, after 37 years of marriage, sons V.J. (Danielle) and Robert, daughter Susanne, brother George (Marian), sister Tooie (Ian), and nephews Barret, Brian, Tru (Nahanni), and Matthew. Those left behind will remember her compassion, optimism, courage and grace. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Kerrisdale Anglican Church, 2490 W. 37th Avenue in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome to Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan at http://www.cw4wafghan.ca/donate-today.
