WHEELER, Elliott George
May 27, 1926 - June 13, 2014
With both thankfulness for a life well-lived and sadness for our loss we announce the passing of Elliott, EL, Dad, Grandpa & Great Grandpa. Predeceased by his wife Betty in 2000, he will be missed and loved always by his children Carol (Zvonko), Susan (Bob), Doug (Sabrina), Louise (Mike), Corinne (Chris) and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Manitoba farm boy found his girl, Betty Ann, they married in 1951 and headed for Vancouver and it suited them well. Dad began his career working as an auto mechanic and in time was co-owner operator of Meteor Service. In 1972 a new home was built and the family moved to Maple Ridge, where Dad lived for forty years. Retiring in 1988, he found new things to do and enjoy. He was a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society for over 10 years, played crib tournaments regularly at the Maple Ridge Legion #88, made sure to get a fishing trip or two in every year and travelled throughout North America pulling a trailer behind his truck with Mom in the navigator's seat. The last two years Dad has lived at Cartier House Care Centre in Coquitlam and the family is very appreciative of the care and attention he received from all the staff. Memorial Service, Friday, June 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. First Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Avenue Port Coquitlam, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Union Gospel Mission.
