Jozefa (Josephine) Dobrzanski (Gut) 1931-2014 With the sun rising into a beautiful summer day on July 26, 2014, Mama passed away peacefully into eternity at 82 years. Jozefa was predeceased by her loving husband, Walenty, sister Bronislawa and nephew Tadeusz, and is survived by her sons John (Rita), Karol, Andrew (Janet) and Stanley, grandchildren Elizabeth, David, Mitchell, Joseph and Alexander, and nephew Jozef in Poland. Babcia loved her family, especially the grandchildren. Mom grew up during the war years and what followed was a terrific hardship for her family. A hard working country woman, she sold home grown produce in the cities, trained to be a seamstress, and also worked at the brick factory Ciegelnia Przewrotne. Jozefa was married in Poland, arrived in Canada and give birth two days later. Raising four sons was hard work, and wanting more, she worked early mornings cleaning at SPK and at a clothing factory using her sewing skills. She worked as a maid at the St Regis Hotel and Astor Hotel before retiring at the Pacific Palisades Hotel, but still wanted to keep working. With Dad's health declining, she faithfully stayed home and rarely traveled outside of the city limits, although she often commented that Vancouver was as beautiful as San Francisco. Stan and Karol devoted themselves to helping Mom tremendously. Always an excellent cook, some of her secrets have gone with her and will sadly be missed. We miss you dearly and our hearts and love are with you. Prayers will be said August 5 at 7:30 p.m. at St Casimir's Church, 1187 E. 27th Ave., Vancouver, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated August 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jozefa's name may be made to St Casimir's Knights of Columbus 1187 E. 27th Ave. or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Condolences for the family may be left at
