BARRAT, John A. (P. Eng.)
We are very sad to announce the loss of John Alexander Barrat on July 27, 2014, a much loved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. John was born in Kelowna, on June 16, 1925. He was educated in Kelowna, McGill University and graduated at the University of British Columbia in Electrical Engineering. John had a very successful career as an engineer. John did engineering projects in British Columbia, Canada and many countries around the world. John was a calm leader and mentor and much respected by his colleagues. John has solved many technical problems and sometimes the projects were complex and difficult. John, however, was modest about his accomplishments. The culture of engineering values modesty and John was a true engineer. John loved sailing, playing golf, photography, music, travelling and reading, but most of all he loved working on engineering projects. John leaves his wife Olga her son Sasha and his sister Lorna, cherished father of daughters Linda and Maureen (Gordon) and son Ralph (Terry) eight grandchildren and four great- grandchildren, many cousins and friends. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. Private Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, British Columbia. Celebration and reflection of John's life is planned for a later date and updated information will be published.
