GREIG, Betty
October 17, 1923 – August 1, 2014
Kathryn Elizabeth (Betty) Greig passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at UBC Hospital, Friday, August 1, 2014 at 90 years of age. The only child of Maud (Thompson) and Frank Smythe; she was predeceased by her husband W.D. (Bill) Greig. Betty is survived by daughters Cathie and Patti (Bodie Samodien); and sons Dave (Helen) and Rob (Dee). Betty will be fondly remembered by her six grandsons Greig (Kia), Graeme (Bailey), Grantley, Adam, Kieran, Nick; and three great-grandchildren Ryder, Rowyn and Renyck, all of whom referred to Betty as GGB. Born and raised in East Vancouver, Betty attended Grandview High School. Bill and Betty met whilst working at Vivian Engine Works in 1941 and were married in 1945. They raised their family in West Point Grey. A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends wishing to do so may make a memorial contribution to the Cancer charity of their choice.
