November 15, 1940 - December 6, 2011 Dr. Parminder Singh Chauhan passed away on December 6th, 2011 at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer. Parminder was born in India on November 15, 1940. He obtained his medical degree and joined the Indian Army in 1961 where he proudly served as a Captain and medical doctor . In 1966, he married Narinder Kaur Siddoo and immigrated to Vancouver.

Professionally, Parminder (or "Dr. Singh" ) was a well-respected pediatric allergist who practiced in Surrey for 37 years. In addition to his busy pediatric practice, Parminder always found time to contribute his time and expertise to a variety of philanthropic endeavors. Parminder retired in 2008 and continued to be actively involved in the C.H.I.L.D. Foundation, the Childhood Obesity Foundation and the Chauhan Family Foundation.
In Parminder's view his greatest accomplishment was his family. Parminder and Narinder were married for 45 years and had three children, Harpreet (Gehan), Neelu (David) and Kulwant (Sheila) who admired and respected him. Parminder also loved to spend time with his 7 grandchildren, Jeevan, Arjun, Aneil, Ashwin, Nyah, Nikhil and Serena.
A funeral will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Riverside Funeral Home at 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta with Bhog (religious service) to follow at Nanak Niwas Gudwara at 8600 No. 5 Road, Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Parminder Singh Award of Distinction Endowment at BC Children's Hospital Foundation Attn: Janice Williams.
