Passed away peacefully on May 10, 2012 at Lakeview Care Center in Vancouver, at the age of 51. She is predeceased by her mother, Vera, and father, George. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Valerie; brother, Ron; sister-in-law, Virginia; nieces, Kristin and Alanna; nephew Ryan; cousins, Bruce Holvick (Mary Ann) and Robert Holvick (Dee); close friends Lisa and Gary Cutler and the all the staff at Lakeview Care Center. Growing up Brenda was active in the Salvation Army Church, where she participated in the Singing Company & Timbrel Brigade, and the Girl Guides where she went on to obtain the Canada Cord, the highest level in Canadian Girl Guides, and later went on to become a leader. She was also a member of the St. John Ambulance. Brenda loved music and could play by ear as well as by music; a few of the instruments in her repertoire were the accordion, piano, and organ. Brenda also loved to travel, Hawaii being her favorite destination. Our family was inspired by the courage and fortitude that she displayed as she faced her illness. All who loved her both family and friends will miss her terribly but will remember the fun and laughter she shared with us all. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Lakeview Care Centre for the love and care she received over the years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Grandview Apostolic Church (GAP) at 2776 Semlin Dr., Vancouver. Rev. Heath MacDonald officiating. Reception with refreshments to follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntington's Society of Canada would be appreciated.
