Passed away peacefully on July, 25, 2012 in Vancouver at the age of 76 after his long felt battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents E.P and Mary Mulhern, and sister Maureen. He is survived by his wife Theresa, children Shannon (Chris), Noel, Maryann (Frank), Patricia, John and Kevin, grandchildren Shamus, Katie, James and Charlotte, former daughter-in-law Georgina, brothers Maury, Brian and Leo and numerous nephews and nieces. Dad was born at St. Paul's hospital and baptized at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in 1936. He attended Little Flower Academy for grades one and two and then entered the next 10 years of his schooling at Vancouver College. His post secondary education continued at Portland U where he received his degree in business administration. He started his family in the US with the birth of his first child Shannon and returned to Vancouver to work at the family business in the hospitality industry. His five other children came quickly as he made the Eldorado his vocation. Being a Mulhern, sports were a large part of his life. He was a talented and avid golfer and he was forever loyal to the Fighting Irish of VC basketball team. He was also a die hard SF 49'ers fan. Being a member of the Jewish Community Centre for years, Dad was also an outstanding racquetball player and won Canadian Championships in senior categories. Even though dad was a man's man, he lived in a pink house on 25th for over 43 years. He took great pride in his Christmas and Halloween displays. He also took up gardening in his latter years and turned his front yard into tomato and pumpkin patches to be enjoyed by all who passed down the road. No matter what, dad was a loyal family member and friend. He will be fondly remembered by those who received his love and dedication. Prayers will be said Monday, July 30th 7:00 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Parish; 1430 West 38th Ave., Vancouver where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31st at 10:30 am, Father John Horgan celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully acknowledged to the palliative care unit at VGH or to the basketball program at Vancouver College.
