We announce the sudden passing at home of complications from pneumonia after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Tom leaves Ruby, his wife of 61 years, his son Paul (Mary Vingoe) in Halifax, his daughter Carol (Gregg Simpson) on Bowen Island, granddaughters Julia Simpson (26), Katharine Vingoe-Cram (24) and Laura Vingoe-Cram (20), and ten nephews and nieces, especially Dr. Ron Warneboldt. Tom attended Burnaby South High School, UBC, and Oregon State University. For 35 years he worked as a research entomologist for the Federal Department of Agriculture. A devoted member of the United Church, Tom enjoyed sailing, travel, gardening, music, dancing and above all serving his family. Special thanks to the Adult Day Centre program in West Vancouver, the staff of Loving Care, and home care nurse Wendy Lea. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of BC (www.alzheimersbc.org) are appreciated. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 2 p.m. at the West Vancouver United Church at 21st and Marine Drive in West Vancouver.
