Diana Rose (Robinson) Dermody

March 26, 1939 - Nov. 17, 2012

Born in New Westminster, March 26, 1937, passed away in peaceful surroundings at the Langley Hospice on November 17, 2012. Diana, daughter of Tom and Rose Robinson, grew up in Cloverdale attending Cloverdale Elementary and Lord Tweedsmuir High School where she forged lifelong friendships. After graduation, Diana trained as a psychiatric nurse and served at Essondale Hospital.

After marrying in January 1959, Diana and Wayne set sail to travel the world and for the next two years lived in New Zealand where Diana worked at Avondale hospital in Auckland. Following that they lived in Australia and then moved to the United Kingdom for two more years. It was in London that their first two children were born. They enjoyed many trips throughout Europe before returning to make their home back in Cloverdale. In the years that followed, she continued her adventures as wife, mother, sister and friend. After Wayne retired, they enjoyed more travels, including Japan, Southern and East Africa, and back to New Zealand and the UK where old friendships were rekindled. They also enjoyed many family trips across Canada and the USA. Diana is remembered as an avid gardener whose flower beds were enjoyed by many.

She is fondly and lovingly remembered as an amazing wife and mum by Wayne and her children: Leighann (David), Kevin, Pamela (Mark) and Darren; six grandchildren: Dayna, Kylie, Andrew, Trevor, Nia and Cole; her brother, Morris, and sisters Julia (Ev), Penny (Russell) and Lorrie (Jack); many nieces, nephews and cousins and countless dear friends from her school days and her work with her church and in the community. She is predeceased by her sister Margaret.

A memorial service will be held at Cloverdale United Church Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2:00pm. It was Mum's request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Parkinson Society of BC, the Cloverdale United Church, or the Langley Hospice Society.
