MACLEAN, Edna Marie (nee Lorne)
December 10, 1925 - November 30, 2012
Edna passed away peacefully with her children by her side after her journey with Alzheimer's came to an end. Predeceased in 2004 by her loving husband, Malcolm, of 58 years. She will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren Lorne (Linda, Spencer and Fraser), Heather, Maureen (Kevin and Kurtis), Sandra (Brianna, Alexa-Ray, and Jackson) and brother Ashley (Pat) along with numerous other extended family members and friends. Edna will be forever remembered for her love, graceful presence and her selfless spirit towards her family and others. She was the heart behind many gatherings including the annual family picnic at Point Roberts for nearly 40 years. Edna's life was also dedicated to the Daughters of the Nile, a social and charitable organization contributing to the Shriners Hospitals for Children that provides medical care and rehabilitation of children. She has been a lifetime member since 1954 and was Queen locally of Zarah Temple #72 in 1974. Edna then went on to reign as Supreme Queen of North America in 1990 where she traveled across Canada and the US visiting more than 140 cities. She later held various positions on the Supreme Board of Directors. A very special thank you to all the staff and caregivers at Rosewood Manor who so lovingly and respectfully took such great care of our Mom for the past 9 years. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at St. Phillips's Anglican Church at 3737 W. 27th Ave., Vancouver, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zarah Temple # 72, #43-7465 Mulberry Place, Burnaby, BC, V3N 5A1 or Alzheimer's Society of BC, #300-828 W. 8th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1E2.
