MURRAY, Gordon Oliver
Gordon Oliver Murray born April 24, 1928, passed away November 30, 2012. Predeceased by his parents Oliver and Enid. Survived and sadly missed by his Wife Nora, Brother Bryson (Judy), Daughters Barb (Brian) Brown and Diane (Ebbe) Syberg-Olsen, grandsons Will (Andrea), Scott, Gray and Mitch, step grandsons Matt (Gabi), Garn (Jenny), step great-grandchildren, Natasha, Katie, Charlie and Henry, many nieces, nephews and friends. Gordon was born in Wainwright, Alberta and later moved with his parents to Edmonton. In 1950 he met his wife Nora and they were married in 1952. In 1964 he and Nora moved with their daughters to British Columbia. They spent many happy years in Coquitlam, Gordon working for Canadian Phoenix Steel & Pipe, later IPSCO and Nora teaching. He was a long time member of Kiwanis both in Edmonton and Port Moody and one of the Founding Fathers of Port Moody's Golden Spike Days. Gordon loved golf, cars, music, especially big band and jazz, martini's, boats, his family and friends. He spent 3 years with good friend Dr. Dave building a sailboat in his backyard, aptly named Patience, when it was finally finished. His family would like to thank all the medical and palliative staff at Langley Memorial Hospital for his care and all the angels at the Langley Hospice disguised as nurses and volunteers. A Celebration of Life will be held at Poppy Estate Golf Course, 3834-248th Street, Aldergrove, B.C., on Sunday, January 20th at 12:00 for lunch, refreshments and sharing of stories. In lieu of flowers donations to the Langley Hospice Society, 20660 - 48th Ave., Langley, B.C., V3A 3L6, or any Hospice would be appreciated.
