DEE, Leslie James Webster (Jim)
1916 - 2012
It is with great sadness that our family advises of Jim's sudden but peaceful death from heart failure on December 7, 2012. Jim is survived by his wife Helen, his sister Noreen Holloway, his three children Roger Dee (Sophia van Norden), Barbara Bennett (Derek), Karen O'Brien (Patrick) and his grandchildren Alexander Dee and Natalie Dee. He was predeceased by his first wife Winona and his son Eric Dee. Dubbed "Sunny Jim" because of his blond hair and winning personality, he was born in Crawford Bay near Nelson, B.C. As a young boy, he moved with his mother and five brothers and sisters to Vancouver where he attended Kitsilano Secondary School. After high school, Jim continued with post-secondary business training before entering the Canada Customs Service where he rose to the senior position of Collector of Customs in Vancouver. He retired at age 55 and enjoyed over 40 years of happy, healthy retirement. Our family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Jim's wonderful caregivers Valentina Lopez, Alice Orense and Ruby-Liza Calasag for the competent and loving care they provided him over the past two years. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and all those who loved him for the generous, wise and caring man that he was. At Jim's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held, but we will all hold him close in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a donation in Jim's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
