McDANIEL, Sister Mary Matthew
A Franciscan Sister of the Atonement of Graymoor, Garrison, New York died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Sister was 92 years of age. Sister Mary Matthew was born in August 29, 1929 and was named Eleanore Gertrude by her parents, Mary Belle (Beaton) and Matthew G. McDaniel. Sister joined the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement (Graymoor) at Garrison, NY on October 4, 1946. She professed her first vows on May 17, 1948 and her final vows on August 29, 1953. As an Atonement missionary, she served in catechetical, parish and pastoral ministries in the United States in Woodland and San Juan Bautista, California; Glens Falls, St. Cecilia's, Palmer, Stillwater and Rocky Point, New York; and in the following cities of British Columbia, Canada: Vancouver, Revelstoke, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Nakusp, Golden and White Rock. Sister is predeceased by her sisters, Olga Formby, Catherine McDaniel and Annabelle McDaniel. Sister is survived by her sister, Theresa Myles Forhan and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Vincent's at Langara, 255 W. 62nd St., Vancouver, December 19th, 3:30pm. Sister's Funeral Mass and Burial will be at St. Francis Convent, Graymoor, Garrison, New York, USA.
