Passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 in Vancouver at the age of 83. Her last moments were spent with her loving and devoted family members by her side. After which, she allowed herself to meet her merciful maker and reunited with her loved ones in heaven. Maria is predeceased by her Husband, Franco Ruggieri, Son, Claudio Ruggieri and Son-in-law, Domenic Catalano. She is survived and her memory will be forever cherished by Federico (Lorraine), Silvana (Gerry), Luigi (Gail), Luciana (Robert), Vanda (JC), Kathy Ruggieri, Gabriella (Ruben), 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends. In Italy, she is survived and will be sorely missed by her loving Sister, Onorina Settepanella (Enzo, Lorenzo & Illaria), brother, Angelo (Linda), Pia Massaro, other family members and friends that still reside there. Maria Ruggieri was born in Luco dei Marsi, Abruzzo, Italy on April 14th, 1929. She was married to her beloved and deceased husband, Franco Ruggieri for 65 years. Her unwaivering loyalty and dedication to her husband, seven children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends is what most people will remember her by. Since Immigrating to Canada at the age of 30 on December 15, 1959 she took much comfort in her devotion to the Catholic faith and was grateful for the support of Corpus Christi Parish. She was the most charitable & compassionate person who loved to sing, especially in Church. Her lovely voice and praises for the Lord could be proudly heard with such beauty and force regularly over the congregation. She was an amazing cook. She made the best bread & pasta with her lovely and special hands. She took pride in her work, was highly regarding by her coworkers and retired at the age of 65. "Mamma Maria" touch the lives and hearts of everyone that had the good fortune of knowing her. Words could never capture the beauty of her pure essence and selflessness in which she lived her life solely for the comfort of her family and friends. "Should every child have the fortune of having a Mother like this" - Thank you "Mamma" - We have been privileged to have you as our "Mother" and we will honor you forever. Rest in peace dear, sweet, deserved, Angel. Your "work" here is more than done. May you live forever in peace and in the "Glory of God" that is yours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, 6350 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver, B.C.
