Frieda Sieglinde Bittel 1935 - 2013 "Siggi" Bittel - loving wife, mother, "Oma", sister, aunt and friend - passed away February 2, 2013, aged 77, surrounded by her loving family. Born in East Prussia, a survivor of the hardships of war, at age 19, Siggi's adventurous spirit sought and found a fresh start in Canada. She traveled from Montreal to Vancouver, where she and Werner began their 56 years of marriage. Their life journey included several years in Switzerland, building businesses and traveling around the world. Siggi's proudest accomplishment was creating a strong foundation and loving home for her family: six children, their spouses, and five much adored grandsons. Siggi will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her zest for travel, her generous heart, and most of all, her uncompromising devotion and love for her family. She will be greatly missed. A service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, BC. The family appreciates the care provided by the BC Cancer Agency, her nurses and doctors, and the McKenney Creek Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Siggi's memory to your favourite charity or to the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society.
