CORRAN, Randal William
On January 29, 2013 in Vancouver. The only child of William and Lila Corran, born near Woolton, England on December 22, 1922. The family immigrated to Canada when Randy was seven and he was raised in Vancouver, Oliver and Penticton, BC. At 18 he was the youngest radio operator in Canada, helping the war effort from Prince George. He then became an air traffic controller at Stevenson Field in Winnipeg where he met his future wife Vivian Fuller, also in ATC. After a brief stint in the army, Randy joined TCA as a flight dispatcher, first based in Prestwick, Scotland. This job took him and his family to Ireland, England, Moncton and Toronto and he finished his career with Air Canada at headquarters in Montreal in Operations Planning. Randy was a loving father to his children, Clare (Warren Wallace) and Dal (Adele Grafton); dear grandfather to Tyler (Shannon) Wallace, Amy Wallace (Jim Paikos) and Brigitte and Charlotte Corran. He had four great- grandchildren, Beckett and Dylan Wallace and Tom and Andrew Paikos. Randal loved his involvement with the aviation world and was a life- long "radio ham." He was a long-time member of CBC Ears in Vancouver, a club through which he made many friends including Archie Reid and Al McMillan. Randy also had lasting relationships with Marlene Clark and Don Wood, who showed him a largesse of kindness, loyalty and generosity. Randy will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was a gentle, principled and much respected man. His family especially wishes to thank the truly professional and devoted staff at German Canadian Care Home. Their warmth, caring and compassion brought him much comfort in his final years. Online condolences to the family may be made to
