Philibert Claude Pelchat 1916-2013 Passed away peacefully at his home at Foyer Maillard on February 21, 2013. Born in St-Isidore QC on September 17,1916, the youngest of 12 siblings. As an infant, Phil's family applied for and was granted land in the Shell Lake, SK area to farm . In young adult hood, he moved to New Westminster, briefly served as an army cook and then moved on to a career as a construction millwright, working in numerous saw mills in BC. He married Muriel Taylor in 1947. They lived happily, spending time traveling, rock hounding in BC and the US and volunteering at church until she passed in 1991. Though they had no children, they maintained close ties with both families and were a favorite aunt and uncle to many. At age 84, Phil married Clara Begin and they spent 4 happy years together until her passing in 2004. He remained close to her 5 children, particularly Linda Dore and Roger Begin and their families. Uncle Phil will be missed by nephews Arthur Pelchat (Pat) , Larry Pope (Kelly) and Garry Pope (Alice) and many other nieces and nephews, both great and great-great. The family wishes to thank the staff at Foyer Maillard, Phil's home for the past 8 years, for the loving care and support they provided him. Funeral mass will be held at noon, Friday March 1, 2013 at St. Peter's Church, 402 Royal Avenue in New Westminster, BC.
