SIKES, John Edwin George
January 28, 1943 – March 8, 2013
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that John passed away after 6 months of treatment for oral and esophageal cancer. He was predeceased by his son, Martin, and is fondly remembered by his loving wife Rita, daughter Belinda (Calvin) and grandchildren Brooklyn, Oliver and Toby. Born in England, John graduated from Bristol University (P.Eng). He met his wife while doing humanitarian work in the Bahamas. After immigration to Vancouver, he worked as a well-respected environmental engineer in the pulp and paper industry. Philosophical and pragmatic, John found great satisfaction in problem solving in both his professional and personal life. He loved pottering in his garden, and attacked crosswords and sudukos with a passion. He also had a sincere interest in local politics. No service is planned but donations may be made in John's memory to Engineers Without Borders at
