SMITH, Herbert Thomas
Passed away on March 24th, 2013 at George Derby Centre, Burnaby, B.C. Dad was born on October 27, 1928 to Thomas and Theresa Smith. Dad lived a full life growing up in Vancouver, serving in the Merchant Marines during WWII, working at the Vancouver Sun newspaper, raising a family with Laura, cycling, sailing the "Danish Maid" and enjoying his retirement years. The family thanks all those who have cared for Dad in the last few years, especially Kristina Van Weizen. Sally Hull was a good friend to Herb. Dad will be missed by his family. He leaves behind children Colleen (Bob) and grandchildren Angela and David; Graham (Christina) and grandchildren Joshua, Nikolass and Naomi; and Rennie and grandson Zachary. Also sister Elaine (and Rob); brother Raymond (and Marlyne) and nieces and nephews. Upon request no flowers please. Instead a donation to the Parkinson's Society of BC would be appreciated. Private funeral. Please join us in celebrating Dad's life at Dad's favorite restaurant Takis Taverna, 1106 Davie St. on Thursday March 28th from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
